Bengaluru Boy’s Death Due to Gate Collapse: DCM Announces Compensation, Orders Suspension of Officials

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar today announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the boy who was killed due to collapse of a metal gate at the Rajashankar play ground in Malleshwara.

The DCM also ordered the suspension of Assistant Engineer Srinivas Raju for dereliction of duty. Steps are being taken to suspend Assistant Executive Engineer K Shanthala, Devaraju and Baby Ayesha Hussain. Executive Engineer L Venkatesh has been given a show cause notice.

As per a report on the incident, it has come to light that a work order was issued for the repair of the metal gate way back in May, 2021, but the the work was not carried out satisfactorily. Many lapses were noticed in the maintenance of the ground.

A committee involving senior officials had been formed to submit a detailed report on the maintenance of the play ground. The Committee has been told to submit a report within a week.
